I finally got Nvidia to play nice with Ubuntu 8.10 and am now fine tuning things.

On the morning of the twelfth, I turned on my computer. After logging in to Ubuntu, the computer, instead of going to my desktop, started working like crazy and just hung on the in-between screen. I was able to get drive fixed it seems. going to be on the look out for any files that weren't repaired.

NOTE: my previous post about being on the live cd ubuntu was made about 5 hours earlier than it says. The live cd was on UTC.

I am now coming to you LIVE from Ubuntu 8.10 Live CD session. And I can access all my drives again. Time for backups and fixoring!

I REALLY want to back up more files before I try doing anything to fix the drive issue that is making Ubuntu not work. I have an Ubuntu 8.10 disk but I need to try to get the disk check to work. I may have to get a new hard drive as well.

And yes, right now I am still in Win XP safe mode.

This sucks.

I am getting weird errors in Ubuntu that prevent me from doing anything. I had to log on to Windows XP just to get Internet. I may just back up all my files and reinstall ubuntu from scratch.

Trying to install Morrowind on Ubuntu is sort of tedious.

A problem with the new kernel update for Ubuntu made my graphic cards stupid for the last seven hours. I have to catch up with/ignore the Internet before I get to log on to KoL ( Read more... )

I use Google Reader for my RSS needs. One function in Google Reader lets the user mark a particular item for sharing. Reader takes these items marked this way and adds them to an new RSS feed.

Which I syndicated for LJ back when I had a paid account.

One my friends (you know who you are) is having computer trouble. I keep wanting to give out the advice "use Linux!" but have been able to resist so far. I'm not actually sure switching would even help. I just want/don't want to experience the smug feeling of suggesting Linux ( Read more... )
